Transition and Updates on Prosperity Catalyst and Fanm Limye Association

As of September 2024, Prosperity Catalyst, Inc. has officially ceased operations. However, we are pleased to share that our Haitian partner, Fanm Limye Association, continues to thrive independently and now has its own dedicated website. We encourage you to explore the ongoing work by visiting our site here:

Before closing, Prosperity Catalyst finalized an agreement with Mother Trees, Inc., a U.S.-based nonprofit dedicated to promoting global tree planting and sustainable agricultural practices. Mother Trees will serve as the 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor for Fanm Limye, enabling individuals and organizations to continue supporting Fanm Limye’s impactful work in Haiti while receiving IRS tax deductions for their contributions.

New Partnership with Mother Trees

Mother Trees CEO, John Leary, brings decades of expertise in agroforestry, including designing the agroforestry training programs provided to Fanm Limye’s beekeepers in Haiti. Through his leadership, Mother Trees has secured a grant for Fanm Limye from Veritree, a platform that connects businesses with verified tree-planting organizations worldwide. This grant is helping expand Fanm Limye’s reforestation and agroforestry initiatives.

Additionally, I am excited to share that I recently joined Mother Trees as the new Chief Operating Officer (COO). In this role, I will oversee and manage any grants passed through Mother Trees to Fanm Limye, ensuring the continued growth and sustainability of their programs.

Fanm Limye: Thriving Amid Challenges

Despite the significant security challenges in Haiti, Fanm Limye remains fully operational and continues to make remarkable progress. Recently, they distributed 98 new apiaries, bringing the total to 808 beekeepers equipped to practice independent beekeeping. In addition to supporting their communities, these beekeepers are addressing the needs of 152 internally displaced (IDP) households by hosting them on their farms. These individuals are being integrated into Fanm Limye’s network, where they receive training in beekeeping, agroforestry, and entrepreneurship.

Over the next two years, Fanm Limye plans to integrate 500 IDP households into their network while extending their reach to 250 additional farming families in nearby communities. With the support of the Veritree grant, Fanm Limye has successfully planted 300,000 trees in the last six months and initiated the growth of another 600,000 seedlings in tree nurseries. These trees will be planted on the farms of women beekeepers, transforming them into regenerative farmers capable of sustaining their families year-round with diverse and nutritious crops while rebuilding depleted soils.

Fanm Limye’s success is a testament to the resilience and dedication of its members and the invaluable support from individuals like you. Together, we are fostering sustainability, empowerment, and lasting change in Haiti.
